However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or at school. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
