1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant reduction in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not certain what to do, as i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor.
