How to replace audi key an audi key replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and could indicate the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult as there are two different pins for the connector and they have different functions however the best method to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced an abrupt drop in power as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing anymore. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, replacement key for audi a1 car key; jisuzm.com, 3 were drenched with gazoline the 4th one was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stay shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's side). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is likely your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially in the case of an Bosch model like ours. Alternately, GM's version this component is an option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for numerous problems in your vehicle. It is a crucial part of your audi q7 replacement key's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. If the sensor fails, it could disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located near the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a common component across the audi tt key case 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
