But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I expected more.

This refrigerator is a good choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food items compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment has 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on par for a French door fridge that costs this much. It also has a decent-sized icemaker in the left door, but it isn't the largest I've seen.

You can alter the shelving in each compartment to create a customized storage layout for the items you need to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS also looks attractive. The LED lighting adds an attractive touch. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls, so you can set them for Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also has numerous options for customizing. It also gives you notifications when doors are left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill which is an option that is available in other GE fridges that allow you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to disperse at a time. The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a striking piece. It's designed to look like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors to preserve food items. This fridge was rated the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never fluctuated more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within an hour and maintaining that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for high-end appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app lets you monitor and control the refrigerator remotely using your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive however, it offers excellent features and capabilities at a reasonable cost.

It's important to understand the limitations of the fridge. It has a small space for shelves, so you may require some creativity when storing tall objects. Also, the shelves are not impervious to sprills and could be stained or damaged by sharp objects. During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ much from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance, but it isn't quite at the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
